While serving as Executive Director, John was selected by Roll Call newspaper as one of Capitol Hill's top fifty most influential staff members.
During the 2000 campaign cycle he directed the NRCC's national issue advertising campaign in which the committee spent over $45 million on the most competitive House races in the country to help Republicans retain their majority. That advertising campaign consisted of hundreds of television commercials and direct mail pieces as well as thousands of individual phone calls.

As chief of staff Hishta played an integral role in helping Mr. Davis with a variety of legislative accomplishments most notably: the Washington DC Financial Control Board Act which many regard as the major catalyst for reforming the DC government and insuring its solvency.
Hishta has also managed numerous political campaigns including Mr. Davis' initial election to the Congress in 1994 in which he defeated a Democrat incumbent by seven points as well as the successful re-election of Senator John Warner (VA) in 1996. Senator Warner defeated the future Governor of Virginia, Mark Warner, in which the challenger spent over twelve million dollars of his own personal fortune. Senator Warner currently serves as the Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee.
His other experiences include serving as the Chief of Staff to the Chairman of the Fairfax County, Virginia Board of Supervisors; and Executive Director of the national political action committee of former Vice President Dan Quayle.
